A Day of Rest!
Yea! Today the school is closed, so I couldn't go and work even if I wanted to. I am excited that the classroom is coming together , but I really do need a "do nothing" kind of day. My mom was so sweet to keep my daughter today, so that I can really relax and recuperate. I am in my bed, playing on my laptop, watching People's Court. I have no plans. I might like to do a little shopping later, but for now I am content.

Making progress
Today I made some more progress in my classroom. The first half of the classroom looks pretty good. I'm now moving to the back. Hopefully, by tomorrow the rest of the stuff can be put where it belongs. Then all I'll have left is the decorations. Did I mention I am EXHAUSTED from moving boxes! :0) I'll be happy when I'm finished!

My not so productive day
Today, I woke up later than I had planned, because I stayed up late working on my website. I printed out the handouts I'll need for the Parent Packs at Open House. When I got ready to leave to go to school, I could not find my keys. I grabbed the spare key to my van, and without thinking, I locked myself out of my house. Ugh! I left behind my diet coke and fabric I needed for the classroom. I went to school and used the copier to print the handouts. With the classroom still in such disarray, I didn't know where to start. My mom came and I was able to fix the fabric on the computer table. It looks nice! I also finished unpacking the math items for our math center. Soon after that I left to come home. I wanted to accomplish more today than I did, but I still made some progress. I'm heading to bed so I can get an early start.

Here I Go!
Here I go trying something new! I love computers, building websites, and now I'm going to try out blogging; something I've not done before. I decided I needed a blog to let the parents of children in my classroom know what is happening each day, what events are coming up, what money or forms need to be turned in, and anything else about the classroom I'd like to share. I hope that I'll have many parents communicate by responding to my blog. I think it will be a great tool for communication.
So far, Lynn, who team teaches with me, and myself have managed to move the furniture around in our classroom where we want it. We were moved from a doublewide trailer to two classrooms inside the building. We've also put the many boxes to unpack in the areas where they belong. Now we've got the difficult job of unpacking and decorating. I'll be going to school tomorrow to continue working. Although setting up a classroom is hard work, it's nice to create a new environment and feel like we're getting off to a fresh start. Lynn and I will be team teaching again for the second year. We felt that our year together was very successful, as each of us brought different strengths to the classroom. Our classrooms are combined into one room, and we conduct our classes as one big family. Hopefully, tomorrow, we'll be closer to being ready.
